What's New in Joomla 5.4.1
This update includes a wide range of bug fixes, compatibility updates, and stability enhancements.
Addresses more than 50+ bug fixes across the core including:
- Fixes for PHP 8.5 deprecations and related compatibility issues. For example: updates to dependencies (like joomla/http, joomla/test), handling of deprecated PHP functions (imagedestroy(), curl_close(), use of null as array offset, etc.).
- Improvements in core behavior: e.g. better error handling (changing certain critical errors into notices), fixing update notification scheduling tasks, handling 401-unauthorized responses properly instead of throwing a 500 server error.
- Fixes for modules/features like: content “CategoryModel” state initialization; correct return types for some methods; media API controller header issues; repeatable-table handling; Smart Search links; language installer bugs; module caching behavior; ordering in the articles module; handling of “Save as Copy” for Smart Search filters; and prevention of broken-image notices.
- Other small but helpful improvements: better CLI error/help messages; improved log entry formatting; accessibility enhancements (e.g. underlining links for a11y); and cosmetic tweaks like coloring/“color scheme” adjustments in some admin UI aspects.
