Database config for installed apps

Postby indysystems » Wed Aug 06, 2008 8:09 am

I've moved several users from one server to another. The old server had everything installed on a single box (mysql, specifically). The new server uses an external mysql box. I've updated config files for installed apps and we've got Installatron using the external mysql box for new installations. So all that is fine.

What's not fine, however, is when you try to update an installed application. Installatron still looks at localhost for the installed database when trying to update. Where is this information stored? I notice on the upgrade webform that the database server and the script name are grayed out with a padlock next to them.

Thanks.

Hi,

It might be using the values in:

Code: Select all
~/.installatron/current/*

However, if it is using that value that sounds like an incorrect behavior. I'll speak to Phil tomorrow and get back to you.

In the meantime, you can possibly edit those files and upgrades might work. Be careful with them though.

Rowan.

Ok, I changed the database from localhost to the IP of the current DB server. The upgrade was successful after that.

Please let me know what you find out regarding that being correct or incorrect behavior.

This is an intended behavior. That value is stored in the data file so that it can continue to work even if the global value changes.

So editing the data files is the right way to fix them if the mysql server has changed globally.

We're considering changing this for a future release.
