Backup file naming conventions

Postby jas8522 » Mon Apr 01, 2013 9:15 pm

Hi there,

When you download a backup file there are two things that can create confusion:

1. Using Safari, the download file is called xyz.tar.gz.html -- why do we need the .html there?

More important:

2. The database file within the backup archive is a hidden file -- nobody can ever find it!

Why not call it database.sql or something similar?

Hello,

We're aware the dotfiles aren't intuitive. The backup structure will be improved in one of the next versions. (Existing backups will continue to work too.)

Regarding Safari, I wasn't able to reproduce this issue. Which control panel is this experienced with?

Thanks,'
Phil

This was with Plesk 11.

Thanks for the info regarding upcoming changes to backup file names!
