Do not like the domain check on install

Post by felosi » Wed Jan 21, 2009 1:52 am

This new feature you added where it checks the domain to make sure its on the server, not sure how long it has been that way but lately I tried to get a clients site ready before he transferred his dns and I could not install a forum. Why does it have to do that? I just don't see what purpose it has and is more inconvenience then anything.

Please consider removing this feature or at least provide a work around. Sometimes these scripts have to be installed when the domain is not resolving to the server. I understand checking the validity of the domain in certain setup situations but I don't see a real need for it on the scripts installer.

Thanks and Best Regards

Here's an override:

Code: Select all

echo "domaincheck=no" >> /usr/local/installatron/etc/settings.ini
Though we don't recommend turning it off. Many of the scripts won't install or upgrade correctly if the domain isn't working, so we added that to stop the possibility of broken installs.

(You can turn it off to install something and then on to make it safer.)
