Joomla password

Postby Felixstoweradio » Tue Sep 04, 2007 1:37 pm

Hi

Stupid question but the upload installs brilliantly - I love it.

BUT (you knew that was coming didn't you)

When I try to access the Joomla back end, through the Administrator screen - I don't know what the password is. Username is usually Admin, but unless specified the password is random - and I don't have that much life left.

Let me into the secret please.

Hi,

The password for the backend is the one you entered when you installed Joomla. The second field when installing is labeled Enter a password for the admin user:, so whatever you entered there is what you're looking for.

If you can't remember it, check the Joomla website for tips on resetting the admin password.

Or you could install a new Joomla with the password you want, then find the password value in the database (it's in the jos_users table under the name 'Administrator'), and copy that to the old database table.

Cheers,
Rowan.
