How do i edit the list of installed apps for a user

Post by jimmy_blacknight » Tue Feb 05, 2008 3:52 am

Hi Guys, i have a few people who have installed applications by hand, namely phpbb3. They want them listed in I5, but while this was an easy task in I3 (edit the data file) i cannot see where or how to do this in I5, is it possible?

Here are the steps:

. Click on New Install.
. Select the script from the list (phpBB).
. Click import install.

It's an experimental feature, but it should work if the install being imported is of the same form that Installatron would install.

Hmmm, experimental surely! :)

! An install of phpBB already exists in this directory.

is this not the expected situation?

That error is perhaps a little unclear, but what it means is that Installatron already knows about an install in that directory. Installatron doesn't allow more than one install of a script in the same directory.

The user's log files are in /user_home/.installatron/current/ with one file per install. It would also show up in the Installed Scripts tab in Installatron.

Do you see a phpBB install already listed for that location?

Also, just to check, make sure you clicked import install and not install. :)

There was one there previously, however it is now not showing up (it was a 2.0.22 install)

Where on the server can i check/remove this entry if it isnt showing up in the user list of scripts?

edit:
Ok, ive looked in |user_home|/.installatron/current

there are three files in there, one of them has the following:
# cat I7vGrW
installer=phpbb
version=2.0.21
time=1089154504
etc..

There is a reference to the install directory, and it is the same as the one i am trying to import.

Can i just delete this file and then run the importer? Or modify it to point to a different directory (or are both options completely valid?)

Would the issue here be that teh phpbb2 installer has been replaced on the system?

That file is the reason for the error you got. They must have deleted the files by hand rather than through Installatron.

You can delete that file if that install no longer exists, and then use import. Or you could edit it to reflect what is there now. I'd recommend trying the import first, because the 3.0.0 log might be different to that old one. But maybe keep a copy of it, just in case.

Ok, that solved it nicely

i mv'd it to the directory above (to keep a backup just in case) then re-ran the import, all imported lovely.

thanks for the quick responses.
