Beanstalk (http://kr.github.com/beanstalkd/) is a simple, fast work queue.

ØMQ (socket library)

Postby Kynao » Mon Jan 07, 2013 8:41 am

I suggest the well known ØMQ (http://www.zeromq.org/) as an embeddable networking library.

PHP bindings, windows binaries => http://www.zeromq.org/bindings:php

MessagePack (serialization library & RPC)

Postby Kynao » Mon Jan 07, 2013 8:43 am

MessagePack is a serialization library and a remote procedure call system on top of the MessagePack serialization library.

I suggest support for MessagePack and so having msgpack.so putted into the PHP extensions directory.

Hello,

Thanks for the large number of app suggestions. I've consolidated them to one thread to make it easier for us to evaluate each.

We'll go through each app and let you know what our initial comments are. I know a couple aren't suitable as they're not PHP (or Perl) apps, but others are suitable and could be integrated in the near future. Expect an update later today or tomorrow.

Cheers,
Phil

Greetings,

We've completed an initial evaluation of each suggestion. Here's our initial comments:

Appflower (http://www.appflower.com/cms/home):

This PHP CMS appears compatible for distribution through the Installatron platform. The next step is to determine if this app meets our guidelines for distribution, which include being multi-language, having a stable development cycle, and providing something unique that the other 30+ CMS's currently distributed do not. We'll continue to evaluate this app.

ProcessMaker:

This app looks interesting and appears compatible for distribution through the Installatron platform. The next step is to determine if this app meets our guidelines for distribution.

Laravel:

This app looks compatible for distribution, however due to low usage we've been hesitant to add new PHP frameworks that do not include any kind of UI. In any case, we'll evaluate Laravel further to determine if we can include it.

MessagePack, ØMQ, Gearman, Beanstalk, xinc, Wakanda:

These are PHP extensions or server-level software which really aren't suitable for distribution though an auto-installer platform. The target audience for an auto-installer is generally experienced website owners aiming to quickly and easily manage multiple web apps and novice website owners that really wouldn't know how to use these.

Secondary to this, there's many cases where Installatron's run-level simply doesn't have permission to make PHP.INI changes, as in many cases there is no per-user/website PHP.INI file, and in other cases server administrators simply wouldn't appreciate changes like this being made.

Best regards,
Josh
